WARNING: If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!

It's another day in Kandor, thanks to Rao, at whose decree the dome covering the whole city is peeled back letting the sun shine through. It's a neat trick, one of many Rao uses to justify his omnipotence. Another trick? Wreaking immense havoc on Krypton, and then "fixing it" – like what he's about to do.

Meanwhile, in Kandor, a trio of Black Zero operatives have disguised themselves as Sagitari to enter the communications room where Rhom's hacked body was sending a message to Brainiac. These folks mean business.

Speaking of Rhom, she's not doing too well. It'll take a miracle for Val to revive her.

Rao observes the rankless are in an uproar because of the recent murder. Seeing his devotees so unhappy makes him unhappy. And you won't like him when Rao's unhappy.

To do that, Rao orders the arrest of Lyta on treason charges: it's alleged she conspired with Black Zero when she arrested the offending Sagitari. This is a ploy to scapegoat Lyta and return peace to Krypton. Politics in Krypton is so full of drama.

After hearing about his love's arrest, Seg goes to his betrothed to ask her if she can pull some strings and get the charges dropped. To do this, he has to admit his love for this other woman. That's always a hard conversation to have with your intended.

On his way back to the Fortress to pick up Rhom's body and give her to the Council as exculpatory evidence in Lyta's defense, Seg's intercepted by the same Black Zero chaps. He's knocked out, and abducted. Whither?

Here, in an underground lair. They're preparing to put a creepy-crawly bug inside Seg's body so that they can so that they can track him, or torture him, or something...

There it goes. Up the nose. Weeeeee!

Meanwhile, Nyssa goes to Lyta's holding cell and offers up her services as Lyta's…attorney? She's there because Seg asked her, so this is curiously generous of her, especially because she's a Machiavellian schemer. Well, let's see how it goes.

Then Seg is joined by this guy, the leader of the Black Zero outfit that abducted him. Basically, the bug-up-the-nose trick was a test to see if Seg was a sentry or not. Seg wasn't, so he lived. Now this guy wants Seg to tell him everything he knows about Brainiac.

Only thing is, this guy is NOT Black Zero, but only using their manpower and resources in the service of Kandor. He's also got a temper, and when one of his men zaps Seg with a prod, he kills him. He wants to find the sentry, Rhom, rip her open, and destroy the sentry within her. Hard to say no to him.

After hearing Lyta's side of the story, Nyssa confronts of her father, who falsified testimony and rigged the case against Lyta. Nyssa is concerned that if Lyta dies, Seg will be so distraught he won't be able to unite Kandor, allowing Nyssa and her daddy to assume complete control. It's a very complex situation, lots of ins, lots of outs, lots of what-have-yous.

The leader of the revolutionary faction wants Seg's help. After that display of mercilessness, Seg wants him to prove that he'll be honorable… by breaking Lyta out of prison.

Kem took it upon himself to look after Ona, Rhom's orphaned child. She wanted to give Rao an offering in her mother's name during the god's grand parade in Kandor. She got a wee bit excited, and climbed up on the rostrum against custom.

As a reward for her courageous display of piety, Anna is given rank by Rao, and initiated into the guild as a novice. When Rao closes a door, he sure opens a window.

Then, for a brief moment, Rhom wakes up, and warns Adam that Ona must be stopped. But stopped from what? Then she kicks the bucket once and for all.

One of the revolutionaries unshackles Seg, who returns the favor by zapping her unconscious. But she wakes up! The two fight like cats and dogs until Seg gets hold of another one of those buggies and sticks it in her mouth. He then escapes with a sweet gun.

Nyssa goes to Jayna to offer her a deal: Jayna gives Nyssa and her father full allegiance, and she'll get the charges against Lyta dropped. Nyssa and Daron are planning to unite the guilds against Rao, and replace him as rulers. This doesn't sit well with Jayna, who can't but see the irony in the whole thing.

Oh, and that offering that sweet, little, innocent Ona gave Rao? It was another one of Brainiac's sentries, and it takes over Rao's body.

And the underground stronghold Seg escaped from? It's in the middle of a tundra in the outlands of Krypton. Good luck getting home, buddy!
