12 Monkeys: Sneak Peek

Tonya Kimble hadn’t been looking for a relationship, but one found her.  When she met Sergio Gonzales, and he got along famously with her daughters?  It was a gift.  They began looking for a house, and when they finally found a place they could call home, they moved in.

The first room they redecorated was Hayley’s.  They were painting the walls red, one of her favorite colors.  They took a break for lunch, hammering the lid back onto the paint can.  When they came back 45 minutes later, something had ripped that lid off and thrown the red paint everywhere.  Tonya immediately ruled out the girls.  Could it be a metaphor for blood?  Or just someone trying to scare them off?

While Sergio went to work, Tonya took the girls to get more paint.  When they returned, the front door wouldn’t open.  Tonya went to the back door, which was also shut tight.  She called Sergio, who was stuck at work.  After kicking in the back door, Tonya was surprised to discover the bolt had been thrown.  It could only have been done from the inside.  Investigating for intruders, she found the bolt on the front door locked as well.  She heard footsteps, but nobody else was there.

As Tonya and KK were sitting quietly, they both heard a little boy’s voice saying “Mom”.  There were no other children around, as Sergio and Hayley had gone to get food.  No kids playing outside.  No explanation for what they’d heard.  Sergio didn’t take them seriously, but that would change.

Hayley took the garbage out one night, leaving the front door open behind her.  When she returned, it had been closed and, once again, bolted shut.  Hayley suspected KK, but there was no way the youngest daughter could have reached the bolt without being seen.  She was just too short.  What locked Hayley out of her own house?

KK was sitting in her room watching a movie when she heard a strange noise under her bed.  She investigated, only to be shocked by the appearance of a boy through the hole in her boxspring.  KK screamed.  Tonya ran to her, and found nothing in the boxspring except one of the beads that had earlier mysteriously gone missing from a box under Hayley’s bed.  If KK hadn’t stolen the bead, how had that gotten into the boxspring?

When Tonya saw the ghost of a young boy in the living room, it was time to investigate.  Local paranormal researchers suggested she get recording devices and see if she couldn’t record some question and answer with whatever the ghost was.  When something knocked the microphone off the table, they knew something was in their house.  When she played the recording back, she and Sergio were both shocked to hear the ghost answer that its name was Joseph.

Tonya took her research to the local library.  Town records indicated that her block had once been a part of something called Lynchville.  Her property had been owned by a J.W. Lynch, who had also been the mayor of Lynchville.  When she reached the library’s limit, she took her search to the Internet.  Could J.W. Lynch have been connected to Joseph?

Unable to sleep, Tonya continued her Internet searches.  When the room began to get hot, she checked the air conditioner.  It wasn’t pumping out hot air.  There was no physical reason for the increase in temperature, but it felt like someone had lit a bonfire.  Trying to cool down, Tonya paced.  She stopped in her tracks when something touched her, and it burned.

Tonya heard voices again, and grabbed the recorder.  Nobody was there, but the recording held voices talking about the mother looking.  Then horrible words began appearing on her computer screen, directed at her.  They knew she was there.  When the chaos finally stopped, something threw her laptop against the wall, breaking it.  Within seconds, all of the smoke detectors in the house went off.  Sergio quickly removed the batteries and left them out.

Tonya consulted a local historian, who gave her some of Ponca City’s history.  She told Tonya more about J.W. Lynch, how he was nice, but a tough customer.  He also had two sons.  The first son had been tracked through adulthood, but the second disappeared from the record at the age of about five.  One of J.W. Lynch’s sons had been named Joseph.  Tonya finally had her connection.  What happened to Joseph?

While Hayley slept, something tried to creep into her bedroom through the closet door.  Hayley screamed, and her mother investigated.  Tonya found nothing.  When she tried to give Hayley some water to calm her down?  Something threw the glass pitcher.  It shattered against the wall by Hayley’s head.

The ghost of a man appeared to Sergio, while the ghost of a burned young boy appeared to KK.  Smoke alarms went off, even though there was nothing powering them. Angry, Sergio began destroying the smoke alarms.  Things were getting a little too violent.

Tonya went back to the historian, who told her a little more about J.W. Lynch.  He wasn’t entirely a good man.  He swindled people.  He had connections to Billy the Kid.  He kicked people out of their homes for no reason.  He had even burned a house down just to collect the insurance money.  Could Joseph have been in that house, and the murder of his own son was what he was trying to hide?

Tonya felt so close to figuring it out.  As she sat with KK in the living room, something began to grab her by the throat.  It lifted her to her feet, dragging her through the room into the kitchen.  After putting her through a window, it finally released its hold.  There was no doubt the harm the ghost could do.  It was time to evict the landlord.  Tonya had an exorcism performed on the property, and they have had no more disturbances.
