A Skinner, Darkly: Season 3, Episode 2

Warning: If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!

Johnny meets his new protégé Zeph, and sets off a match of the geeks. She may have the first point, though, after figuring out a way inside one of the Black Root ships.

It takes them to this place, that looks like an abandoned theme park set in the set of The Giver.

The town tour guide is a hologram who's been programmed to teach Hullen anti-socialites how to appear more human.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_05.jpg
329957

In fact, the whole town was once a training ground for Hullen killing machines to practice their manners. Who's hungry for some pyramid?!

Unfortunately, there's trouble in paradise, and neither Johnny nor Zeph know what to do. There's a countdown to…something, and it's coming fast.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_07.jpg

Oh, it's just a solar flare. They happen at regular intervals on this planet, and make all eletrical devices freak out momentarily. Including the Black Root ship.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_08.jpg
329960

Effectively blind during the flare, Dutch and D'avin are disarmed by some locals, and must take cover in a nearby shelter. Maybe tourism isn't this place's moneymaker.

Gander and Delle Seyah are tasked with breaking the news to Aneela that her father, Khlyen, is dead.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_10.jpg
329962

She takes the news rather well, slaying only three of her footmen in a misplaced, cold blooded rage. Well done, Aneela.

One of the locals (called the Unseeing, on account of the radiation blinding them) is Quin, and she takes a risk by going aboveground and leading Dutch and D'avin down to safety.

329964

Having returned the ship to the planet, Johnny steps outside to take a look around. He's greeted by an Unseeing who, instead of a laurel wreath, has a gun. Zeph, not looking to receive the same treatment, takes the ship and blasts off…

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_13.jpg
329965

There they are welcomed by Yarin, the blind leader of the Unseeing, who believes Dutch, D'avin and Johnny are emisarries from the race of the revered Undying (aka Hullen). It's the blind leading the bluffing.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_14.jpg
329966

The Killjoys attend a celebration for themselves — or for whom the Unseeing think they are — at which The Last Seer is about to punish Quin for disobeying orders. By scooping out her eyes.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_15.jpg
329967

That's the last straw, and Dutch intervenes. This blows her cover, and she, Johnny and D'avin get sent to holding cells.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_16.jpg
329968

After Johnny stuns Yarin with a high-pitched sound, Johnny sucker punches the old man to the ground. Quin then leads the jailbirds to The Room that Sings. Will this madness never end?

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_17.jpg
329969

Apparently not. Because apparently D'avin visited the planet three days prior, and told Quin he would return looking for something called The Remnant (and he has no memory of it, which is weird, but whatever this is Killjoys). Who knows what that is?

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_18.jpg
329970

The Last Seer reveals to Dutch that he's a Hullen who was left behind to supervise the human slaves, and keep their spirits high until the Hullen returned. Who charged him with this duty you might ask? Khlyen.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_19.jpg
329971

When Dutch informs him that Khlyen's dead and won't be coming back to relieve him of his post, The Last Seer sees red. He sets the Unseeing on Dutch, who, belying their name, have no trouble finding her.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_20.jpg
329972

Quin shows D'avin The Remnant, inscribed with Khlyen's imprint. When Khlyen left, he must have forgotten the spherical doohickey there…and maybe even his car keys.

329973

Just before Dutch is undone by a horde of Unseeing, Zeph returns in the Black Root ship. Zeph has got this timing thing down.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_22.jpg
329974

Coincidentantally, a solar flare helps Dutch, Quin, Johnny and D'avin escape Creepsville and board in safety.

Killjoys_gallery_303Recap_23.jpg
329975

Zeph used a swab of D'avin's DNA to restart the Black Root ship after it was stymied by the solar flare. That makes D'avin the de factor captain of the fleet. Saddle up!
