Divine Move: Season 1, Episode 10

It’s 1987, and Cole and Ramse both appear in an alleyway in Tokyo, on their way into a swinging bar called the White Dragon. This is the endgame. It’s now or never.

What is everyone all freaked out about? Well, here it is – the 1000-year-old corpse that has the virus that Goines really wants. We’ve seen this before, no?

Younger Leland Goines (in an excellent wig and suit!) is accosted by Cole in the line for the bathroom, just as Ramse attacks them both. That doesn’t go well, because now Cole and Ramse are going to have to fight each other.

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_04.jpg

And then Ramse stabs Cole in the stomach. It’s amazing what a guy will do to his best friend when he’s traveling through the past to save a son who wouldn’t be born otherwise.

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_05.jpg
134296

Ramse spends much of 1988 through 1990 getting beat up by a bully in the prison yard. It doesn’t go great for him there for a while.

134301

And then one day, Ramse gets a letter in prison from a mysterious woman named Olivia, who knows he’s a time traveler and also sends him "The Art of War" and some other books.

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_07.jpg
134306

Turns out, this is Olivia, the woman who’s been sending Ramse supplies and letters in prison. And she has some pretty impressive things to show Ramse: including The Pallid Man.

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_08.jpg
134311

Turns out that two objects that co-exist in the past and the present, when they collide – turn all the plants red. That’s new, but really does explain the “you are in a red forest” line from earlier, no?

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_09.jpg
134316

Since Ramse is from the future, he remembers that Markridge is the name of the company that manufactures the virus. So, naturally, Olivia invests in that company, meaning Ramse is responsible for the virus being created.

So, in order to find the location of the Night Room (and the newly created virus), The Army of the 12 Monkeys (working with Ramse) try to get it out of Jennifer Goines and her other Markridge colleagues, but they don't spill so the Army frames her (setting up the events that stick her in the mental ward where Cole later finds her in Episode #2).

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_11.jpg
134326

By 2014, Goines goes to visit Jennifer and doesn’t let her out because she’s still obviously a bit nuts. This, if you recall, is just before Cole ends up killing Leland Goines.

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_12.jpg
134331

Quick catch up: everything happened as we’ve already seen: Goines getting shot, losing the virus in Chechnya, Oliver Peters making more of it. And now, the only thing left, says Olivia, is to release the plague.

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_13.jpg
134336

Aaron drinks himself silly because he’s lost his mind a bit. Senator Royce is running for President and he’s let Aaron go. But don’t worry…

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_14.jpg
134341

Olivia is on the job. She’s the private investor for the “private sector project” that the Senator is working on. And with her help, Aaron could be in the running to spearhead that effort (which will ensure him a safe locale when the virus breaks out).

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_15.jpg
134346

Meanwhile, up in the house that Leland Goines built, Jennifer has had her bath and gets her hair brushed by Olivia, the spookiest mother-figure anyone ever dreamed up.

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_16.jpg
134351

Realizing that he could be dying, Jones and her cronies slingshot Cole to 2015, hoping to save him, but will the risk pay off?

12Monkeys_gallery_111Recap_17.jpg
134356

Whitley brings Jones the news that they’ve lost the tether to Cole, and that the project is over. Whitley takes his team and moves on to whatever’s next.

Cole has made it back to 2015. And even made it to Cassie’s for help.
