Resources

There are a few things we suggest that you might provide to help sell your books at conventions.  Below you will find links to get these items through VistaPrint.  In our experience VistaPrint works well and is inexpensive (in every case except t-shirt printing).

If you are unable to provide any of these items we can still sell your books from the Co-Op table, but the more you can have for us to work with, the better you will sell.

To maintain consistency in the booth we are providing links to the specified sizes for items. If you need help with graphics for these things we can help (as time permits).

Useful resources links and suggested sales aids for the Table Share:

  • Business cards
Business cards do well at Literary Cons but seem to do less well at Comic Cons.  Regardless, we think you should have them with your books.  BUT this is really important … Do NOT put your phone number on your business card for use at Cons.  Include your links and perhaps even an email, but you don’t want your fans having a way to call you at 3:00AM to bitch that you killed off their favorite character. When you do make it big, a stalker-fan might be more adoration than you want!
  • Bookmarks
Note: Bookmarks are expensive no matter WHERE you get them. In the past we have found it far less costly to get Rack Cards and then cut them down to size (you can get 2 bookmarks per card that way and, although they aren’t double sided, they work out to be MUCH cheaper.) Don’t forget to put your links on the front of the bookmark if you choose to use the Rack Card option.
  • Promo Cards (post cards)
Note: We suggest the 4″ X 6″  size.  Order these double sided with your book cover and blurb on the front, and a black and white back side with your author bio and links.  If you can fit a QR Code for your Amazon page on the front near the bottom, we have found that including this does seem to help some folks pick up your books online. (Here is a link to a free QR Code generator if you need one or don’t know what it is by name)
  • 8 1/2 X 11  Stand-up Ad
This is not something you have to have professionally printed. These are used on tables where we have space, to help hold interest longer at the table.  We provide the acrylic display stand to encase the ad. They often get picked up and read over and do help sell your book. If you create the  image we can print it out for you here.  Email us your image in any format and we’ll take care of it. Here is an example to give you an idea.
  • 4 X 6 Stand-up Ad
Pretty much the same thing as above but smaller and less verbose.  Consider this the elevator pitch version of your book blurb.  Here is an example of one of mine (used to promote newsletter subscriptions).
  • We also want to have both an elevator pitch of your story, and a more in depth synopsis of the book, so that we can answer questions that might come up from readers when they are shopping.  These don’t need to be pre-printed out, but rather can be emailed to us and we’ll keep them at the Con to refer to as needed.

  • Standard booth banners (1.7ft by 3ft)
Note: The booth layout we have is set up for banners that are the smaller of the ones that they offer on this page. We recommend at least one banner of this size, for the front of your table and you have the option of 2 more to hang on the side wings behind you. Although you may elect to get them with grommets for your future use, our attachment system is based on Velcro and does not require them.  We will mount adhesive Velcro strips to the back of your banners and if you do not want to use the strips in the future, they can be removed easily after the event.

Since you will be here you do not need to provide these things to us, however it would be a good idea to consider creating them for your own use as it helps you to effectively pitch your books as people come up to the table.
